World missions is a core purpose for which World Gospel Church was founded. The "World" in the church's name reflects the concern and vision of the founding pastor and members. At the initial service of the church held in January of 1957, the small congregation agreed to help support a young missionary couple, Paul & Lois Steward. That relationship and support continued throughout the couple's 40 years of service in Bolivia, South America.
From the beginning, our missions emphasis has continued. The Missions Committee currently provides financial support to missionaries through four mission societies: OMS International, OC International, World Gospel Missions and Arab World Ministries. Church members who serve under another mission society may be supported if their society's policies and statement of faith are compatible with ours. We currently support thirty-two missionary families (twenty-seven internationally, four at mission headquarters and one on-campus ministry through InterVarsity). Seven scholarships have been awarded to foreign nationals to attend seminaries and eventually minister in their homeland. We also provide prayer and financial support to advance Christianity in India through GO International. Other WGC committees provide prayer and financial support to local community ministries and organizations, such as: Child Evangelism, Lighthouse Mission, Crisis Pregnancy Center, Youth for Christ, and Asian Outreach.
Our support of international missions through our finances and prayers has created a sense of world wide family. Those supported by WGC families are working in evangelism, Bible studies, seminaries and Bible schools teaching, pastoral training, discipleship, medicine, education, agriculture, radio, campus and ministries, and church development.

How Shall They Hear? Romans 10:14-15
Keynote speaker: Bob Fetherlin, President of One Mission Society
Bob and Esther Fetherlin Bob and Esther Fetherlin served for eight years as missionaries to Mali, West Africa, with The Christian and Missionary Alliance (The C&MA). They then led the Africa region for seven years before being asked to lead the international missions work of The C&MA, which they did for more than 15 years. As the Lord was prompting them to transition from that role, the opportunity to serve with One Mission Society (OMS) was presented. Bob’s heart was deeply moved as he read Missionary Warrior: Charles E. Cowman by Lettie B. Cowman, leading to a strong sense that God was calling them to OMS. This was affirmed by the OMS Board. On July 1, 2014, Bob began serving as the President of OMS with Esther working alongside him. Bob and Esther feel tremendous joy in being a part of the OMS family!
The Fetherlins have two adult children. Their son is married and serves in a creative-access country with The C&MA. He and his wife have three young children. Their daughter and her husband, who have one child, serve on the pastoral staff of Grace Chapel in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Bob and Esther acknowledge with humility and dependence upon God that they have much to learn as they move forward in leadership of OMS. They have loved getting to know the OMS Headquarters team and OMS global workers and partners. Their longing and prayer is that God will pour out his power and blessing on the work of OMS around the globe, giving much multiplying fruit that will last for eternity. For whatever part God uses Bob and Esther to further his work through OMS, they are humbly grateful, knowing that the glory of Christ is of greatest value.
We are praying for Bob to be filled with God’s wisdom and compassion. May he touch all our hearts to be drawn deeper into God’s work throughout the world.
Many of our supported missionaries will be in attendance. May the Lord pour out His power and blessings on this event.
